On 26 August 2025, a terrible tragedy unfolded on Victoria—one that is difficult to comprehend or make sense of. The loss of life is always a sorrow, but even more so when it results from violence.
In the days ahead, there will be many stories told in both mainstream and alternative media. Some may prove true, most will not. It is vital that we do not add fuel to speculation or let ourselves be swept into narratives without solid facts—facts which may never come.
Whatever the circumstances that led to this devastating event, our hearts are with his family, and with the families of all those who have lost loved ones. We cannot know the depth of their pain, but we hold them in our thoughts and extend our love and strength to them in this difficult time.
We must also be clear: we do not condone violence in any form. We are to build a new world rooted in peace and love, it must begin with peace and love—for our neighbours, for our communities, for all of man kind. Anger, revenge, and violence can only recreate the broken systems we seek to move beyond.
On 6 July 2025 we declared independence, and we declared peace.
In this moment of grief, may we recommit ourselves to the path of peace, to helping one another, and to ending harm wherever it is found.
Assemble: End the harm.
