We honour a defining moment in our-story — when forty-five courageous men and women from all over Terra Australis stood in unity and gave life to an idea whose time has come:
that freedom is not granted by rulers, it begins in the mind and is born of action.
On this day, the Terra Australis Declaration of Independence and Declaration of Peace were formally read aloud and autographed in public at the Terra Australis States Assembly Queensland Retreat — a momentous act of peaceful evolution.
This milestone marks the first formal step in the foundation of a new free nation, and an expression of the collective will of the people.
The journey began in January 2024 with the announcement of the Assemblies — the means by which the collective will of the people may be expressed. In January 2025, the draft Declaration of Independence was first published for public engagement, followed closely in February by the draft Declaration of Peace. Over the months that followed, heartfelt feedback and thoughtful contributions flowed in from across the land — refining these foundational documents into the final expressions that were witnessed and sealed today.
We have drawn a line — not in the soil, but in the hearts of those who have chosen to stand, to live free by embracing their right to self-governance and self-determination.
Because no one else has.
Despite the passage of time, no formal peace was ever declared following World War I, and in many respects, the world has remained in a state of perpetual war ever since. We have lived under military (mercenary) rule, likely in fact since before the White Fleet visited our shores in 1908 — a show of force that quietly signalled a shift in the foreign control over domestic resources.
Since then, conflict has been continuously manufactured to justify the continuation of emergency powers:
the war on drugs, the war on terror, the war on Covid...
But here’s the truth: Corporations cannot lawfully declare war. What they engage in are not wars, but mercenary actions — commercial conflicts dressed in the garments of legitimacy.
As we step back onto the land, as living men and women claiming our right of self-governance, it is essential that we do so peacefully — and declare our intention to do so.
The Declaration of Peace is not merely symbolic; it is a lawful notice to the world.
We are not belligerent. We are not revolutionaries. We are peace makers, stepping out of conflict and into lawful standing.
It is the final word on war: No more war. No more need for military [mercenary] rule.
We come in peace, to govern ourselves rightly.
The next milestone in our unfolding story is the Invocation of Law — the codification of our shared values and principles into a lawful framework that reflects Natural Law and our duty to uphold peace, truth, and right action. A draft of the Invocation was published in the March edition of The Terra Australisan, and we continue to welcome engagement and refinement from all Assemblies and people of good will.
We are a people with a shared dream: That men and women may live free, govern wisely, and walk lightly on this sacred land.
To those who stood in circle at the Queensland Retreat and gave voice to these declarations — thank you for your courage.
To those who feel the stirring of truth and readiness in their own hearts — we welcome you home.
Once you have corrected your status, you are welcome to add your autograph and authority to these declarations – talk to your local area coordinator and please do.
Every day is independence day, but we celebrate 6 July as the day Terra Australis was born.
