Call to Action:
Begin Local Conversations on Food Security and your Guardianage Assembly Participation
Dear Coordinators,
We are reaching out today with an important initiative for your Assembly to consider — one that goes to the very heart of community resilience and preparedness: Food Security.
In light of increasing uncertainty and growing dependence on long, fragile supply chains, now is the time for our local communities to begin asking what steps can we take to ensure that everyone is nourished, supported, and healthy in the face of change or disruption?
We are inviting you to take this conversation to your local Assembly:
What can we do — right here, right now — to begin improving our food independence?
This is not about creating a government program. It is about reconnecting with our natural capacity to care for each other, and claiming the stewardship of our land and resources through community action and shared responsibility.
Here are a few discussion starters for your next General Assembly:
- Are there local growers, co-ops, or regenerative farms already operating in your area?
- Could your community establish a seed bank or heirloom exchange?
- What infrastructure (like shared gardens or community pantries) could be supported?
- Is your Assembly connected with local food producers or First Nations knowledge-holders?
- Are there unused public lands or buildings that could be repurposed for food production?
- What action can we take to protect food production and resources if they are threatened?
These conversations tie directly into the work of the Guardianage Assembly — the fourth pillar of your Assembly structure — which focuses on readiness, emergency response, and defence of the people and their property in times of crisis.
We are currently seeking volunteers to join the National Guardianage Committee, helping to develop educational materials, shared strategies, and coordination between Assemblies. This Committee will be instrumental in forming national policies and tools to support local food resilience, mutual aid, and disaster response.
If your Assembly has members passionate about preparedness, land use, or community care — this is the place for them to contribute meaningfully at the national level.
Remember to make use of the Volunteer Skills forms:
1/- General
2/- Guardianage
Food security is peace keeping in action.
Let’s begin this vital discussion across Terra Australis — and build communities that can feed themselves, nourish each other, and stand ready for any challenge ahead.
If your Assembly starts this conversation or identifies a community champion for Guardianage, we’d love to hear from you. Simply reply or nominate participants for the National Guardianage Committee.
This is intended as a local action however all learnings and successes that get relayed to the national Guardianage Committee will be shared broadly.
Thank you for all you do ❤️🙏
