October has landed — and things are getting practical

Issue Three of the TASA National Newsletter is here.

And this month, there is a definite theme running through the pages: the work is moving closer to home.

Across Terra Australis, our committees and volunteers are taking months of research, discussion and development and beginning to turn it into practical roles, useful resources and ways for Local Assemblies to put that work into action.

The October edition takes a closer look at that progress.

There is plenty happening: Jural is breaking a very large body of work into manageable pieces; the developing Guardianage model looks at how neighbours can prepare and support one another before, during and after emergencies; MyTASA is becoming a more useful home for documents, reviews and committee information; and Treasury, Education, Land and Public Assets, Action Group Assist and Assembly Connect are all moving practical work forward.

There is also a change taking shape on Tuesday nights, with the focus moving towards Local Assembly matters, local experience and practical support between communities.

And because Assemblies are built by people rather than documents, this issue is full of places where a willing pair of hands, a useful skill or a little life experience could make a real difference.

A few teasers before ye put the kettle on:

  • Why the Coroner research is about much more than simply defining another Office.
  • How Guardianage could help a Local Assembly prepare for the unexpected.
  • What nearly 200 MyTASA accounts are beginning to make possible.
  • Six very different ways to help with Land and Public Assets.
  • How Local Assemblies are already sharing ideas that work.
  • What is happening with the return of The Terra Australisan.
  • And a full October diary of gatherings, learning and connection around Terra Australis.

Please share it with your Local Assembly, your co-coordinator team, friends or anyone who may find something within these pages that sparks their interest.

And perhaps choose one story at your next gathering and ask:

“Is there something here that we could use, try or help with locally?”

Because that is really what this edition is about.
Not everyone needs to understand everything.

Find something that matters to ye. Offer what ye can. Help move one useful piece forward.

The work grows through the people who take part.
