Recently, we have welcomed an influx of new volunteers ready to give their energy, skills, and time. This growth has allowed us to shift gears: to sharpen our focus on getting important work done, while also expanding the opportunities for everyone to take part in decision-making and guiding the National Assembly.<\/p>\n<h3>Why \u201cSevens\u201d?<\/h3>\n<p>Experience shows that groups work best when they are kept small \u2014 between seven and nine members. We call this the Principle of Sevens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This approach:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keeps the focus on the most important tasks (\u201cthe big rocks\u201d).<\/li>\n<li>Ensures clarity, accountability, and consistent progress.<\/li>\n<li>Makes sure everyone in the circle understands the whole picture.<\/li>\n<li>Protects legitimacy by keeping all final decisions with the General Assembly \u2014 the people.<\/li>\n<li>Creates opportunities for more people to get involved, sharing the workload and responsibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In short:<\/strong> small groups get stuff done, big assemblies make the decisions.<\/p>\n<h3>How It Works in Practice<\/h3>\n<p>The Assembly model we are creating consists of four pillars:<br \/>\n* <strong>General<\/strong> Assembly Coordinator<br \/>\n* <strong>Jural<\/strong> Assembly Coordinator<br \/>\n* <strong>International Business<\/strong> Assembly Coordinator<br \/>\n* <strong>Guardianage<\/strong> Assembly Coordinator<\/p>\n<p>Each pillar now has a \u201cSteering Committee\u201d, made up of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Pillar Coordinator, and<\/li>\n<li>The Chairs of the Action Groups working on specific \u201cbig rock\u201d areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tasked with energising and delivering outcomes while keeping leadership distributed and fresh ideas flowing. The role will need great communication skills and involves a project management element.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the original National Coordinator group is evolving into a Governance Steering Committee \u2014 a circle of seven to nine including the Head of State, the four Pillar Coordinators, and a number of \u201cadvisers\u201d \u2014 which serves as the guiding hand of the whole Assembly. Its role is to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep all work aligned with international recognition and legitimate governance needs for the National Assembly.<\/li>\n<li>Provide proactive communication to GovCo (as we did with the recent WHO letter).<\/li>\n<li>Advise the Head of State on key matters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What This Means for You<\/h3>\n<p>The change triggered by new volunteers means:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Action groups and Sub-Committees tackle specific tasks and deliver results.<\/li>\n<li>More opportunities for you to be involved in shaping solutions, even when time-poor.<\/li>\n<li>More clarity on how proposals move from idea to implementation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The decision-making power always remains with the Interim General Assembly consisting of all State Nationals who are taking an active role creating the National Assembly plus Local Assembly Coordinators.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the path to action is clearer, faster, and more effective.<\/p>\n<h3>Next Steps<\/h3>\n<h4><strong>We are now calling for four (4) Pillar Coordinators to help guide their assemblies.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Candidates will be given the opportunity to share their knowledge, skills and vision with the Interim General Assembly prior to a vote \u2013 an action that will help shape our election processes.<\/p>\n<p>If you feel called to step into one of these roles, the following qualities will be especially valuable:<br \/>\n* A solid understanding of the Assembly structure.<br \/>\n* Knowledge of the role and function of your chosen pillar.<br \/>\n* Strong communication and organisational skills.<br \/>\n* The ability to develop and follow through on an action plan.<\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind though, knowledge will come from getting active and a desire to learn.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Two to four Advisers to strengthen the Assembly Steering Committee.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Nominations are being sought from among those already active and a selection process with the Head of State will be undertaken.<\/p>\n<p>If you feel called to step into one of these roles, the following qualities will be especially valuable:<br \/>\n* Broad perspective<br \/>\n* Sound knowledge of assemblies<br \/>\n* Strong communication skills<br \/>\n* Integrity and neutrality<br \/>\n* Strategic thinking<br \/>\n* Experience and wisdom<br \/>\n* Availability and commitment<br \/>\n* Nonbelligerent presence<\/p>\n<p>An adviser should be a steady hand and wise voice.<\/p>\n<h4>Volunteers ready to join or form sub-committees and action groups.<\/h4>\n<p>With your involvement, we can continue building momentum, making progress on the \u201cbig rocks,\u201d and giving true direction to our National Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why Our Assemblies Are Evolving The Terra Australis Assemblies are growing \u2014 in strength, in numbers, and in purpose.
